Two Stars Each makes Four!

It's a bit of fun and nice to see Schwarzenegger and Stallone together. It's really a two star movie, but I am giving it four simply because it is a Schwarzenegger and Stallone movie, so two stars each. In poker four twos beats three aces, so it's kind of like that. Anyway, what do you expect? If you know who's in it and you still want to watch it, then you shouldn't be disappointed because it's not high drama. The script is poor, the acting is awful and the storyline, ridiculous, but it is FUN, FUN, FUN with a MACHINE GUN!

more cerebral than explosive

I have been a Sylvester Stallone fan for years. This movie paly to his strengths. He has the intense tough guy stare down cold, probably because of his age he does not have too many stunts to do, he just has to look the part bulky with vanes bulging in a tight clothes. Oh yeah Arnie is also in the movie as well. Like as I am Stallone fan I was more than happy to have the bulk of the movie dedicated to him and Arnie taking the second lead. The dynamic of the movie is Stallone is the brains and Schwarzenegger is the well-connected muscle.

Ray Breslin (Stallone) has made a career of escaping inescapable prisons. That is till he is sent to "test" a new prison where the world’s greatest criminals and terrorists are held without rights or trials. Run by a cold hearted warden Hobbes (played perfectly by Jim Caviezel), and a psychotic head guard Drake (Vinnie Jones). Now he has no idea where he is, who to trust and no help till he is "found" by Swan Rottmayer (Schwarzenegger). This is not the usual big explosion fest fan of these two are used to seeing but this more prison break style planning and improvising. All in all a very entertaining movie, I would not mind seeing again.

I am an Arnie fan, a bit more than I am a Stallone fan. Having both in the same movie seems to make them up their game as if they are trying to out-do each other. There is a really good, comic, chemistry between the two.
Go into this film expecting the norm from these two actors and you won't be disappointed. I really enjoyed it as a fun movie.

Not a big fan of Sylvester Stallone, but loved Arnie's movies. It was watchable, Arnie looks well and still believable, but Stallone is showing his years, like us all! I enjoyed it but would not go out of my way to recommend it, easy watching nothing too action packed, bit different, theme not fantastic and not really believable, seen better but seen a lot worse as well. If you have a bit of time to watch a pretty easy going film give it a go!

GREAT ACTION MOVIE , DOES NOT HOLD UP ON REPEATED VIEWING .

Exactly what is expected of the DOUBLE S , all action , gritty romp , well scripted and thought out .
So why the 3 stars . One is deducted as Mr Stallones partner in Escapology Incorporated , is just
so unbelieveable , that Mr St ., can have so much nous , yet be duped by this street hustler .
Secondly , I write as I watch for the second time . First time around , gripping , second rather dull .

Good to waste time

If you value your time above all else then don't watch it.
If you have too much time on your hands then give it a shot.

A decent yarn
Verified purchase
The plot is quite lively with 2 or 3 decent twists e.g. the location of the Tomb; the Identity of Mannheim etc, but I prefer "action films" with a little more realism and whilst the escapes aren't so far fetched, "the escape/final battle" is laughable. 20-30 guards armed with automatic weapons can't take out a helicopter with single gun from 100m, whereas the prison head warders can hit a rope ladder with a handgun from 500m. Overall, not taken too seriously it's s decent yarn.

Two hours of your life you will never get back

Honestly one of the worst films I have ever seen. It beggars belief that people give this four or five stars! It's cliched, predictable, poorly written, poorly acted, and a complete waste of 2 hours. Sink five pints, then watch. It's the only way I can see it as an enjoyable film.
