Ordered one which sounded like it was about to rattle apart so arranged a replacement. The replacement arrived today and it’s just as bad and can’t be right? Sounds like there’s a teaspoon inside! Really not impressed and will be returned again...

When water boiled it failed to stop

We bought this to replace the older model which is still for sale, and which we have now bought again as this one failed to stop when the water was boiling, and boiled completely dry. They are actually great kettles: balance in the hand is perfect, and they are fast. Pity we got the lemon, soon to be a resident of our local dump.

So we got another one, and for a while it worked fine. However, for the last two days it has been failing to stop once the water is boiling as well. Very disappointed. Reduced to 1 Star.

I love Dualit products and after many years (2008 bought from Amazon) my kettle decided it needed a permanent rest. Wow things have moved on a pace as this new kettle is so much quieter than my last one and certainly quieter than other makes than relatives and friends have. Even though the light is on at first you don't hear anything happening but it is and boils quickly too. Yes it is expensive but if this one lasts as long as my last one then it certainly works out cheaper in the long run.

Our previous Dualit Jug kettle lasted 9 years but gave up the ghost. I looked to get a “cheap” kettle and reviewed nearly every kettle on Amazon. Ive went full circle and decided to pay for quality. It has a speedy rapid boil feature which is great as I only use it for making my tea, hubby has his Jura coffee machine. It looks the part too, shiny chrome and a nice modern looking kettle accented with black. BPA free dual windows with measurement markers make it clear to see your fill levels. I hope this kettle lasts me another decade. Matches my Dualit chrome toaster which has lasted years too. Its designed and engineered in Britain. Just love this British brand.

Poor lid mechanism

Last Dualit Lite kettle we owned was excellent. Lasted years. But this latest incarnation is not up to scratch with a fundemental design flaw. The lid mechanism relies on metal lugs that clip onto rim when lid is closed. When the lid is opened the lugs bend and protrude even more than they were 'designed' to. As lid is opened and closed it therefore becomes harder to open. The previous model used a bearing ball on a spring which was fine. Why on earth did Dualit change it? This 'redesign' renders the kettle virtually useless especially for anyone with limited strength or mobility.

A replacement for an old Dualit jug kettle. Which was then itself replaced!

Our 4-year-old Dualit Jug Kettle had started to misbehave - switching itself off after a few seconds, for example. So time to get a new kettle. After searching the market, I chose...another Dualit Jug Kettle!

It seems there have been some subtle changes - for the better. The switch which was giving us the trouble now feels much more positive in its action. The base which was previously black, now has a smart chrome face. The lid has a smoother open/close action - although this is of course was adjustable anyway. Even the red 'on' light seems slightly bigger and brighter.

Kettle noise and boiling time seem much as before. Which is to say - perfectly acceptable. If it lasts at least as long as its predecessor, I shall consider it very good value.

UPDATE
Well, it didn’t last as long! The replacement would occasionally FAIL to switch off and none of the possible suggested causes seem to apply. So the replacement was itself replaced in May.

So far the replacement’s replacement has performed perfectly. Hopefully this is a quality control problem effecting a small number of these kettles that Dualit are resolving.

The Kettle is great however, if and when it goes wrong, which mine has Dualit just don’t want to know, despite registering the product on the manufacturer website. I have been advised to contact Amazon however, during this COVID crisis nobody is accepting returns, along with the fact it is a essential household item.
I not be considering Dualit as a household appliance moving forward

It boils water

It's a kettle, for goodness sake. Of course it boils water. That's all it does.

OK, it's quite a heavy kettle - or possibly, a sturdy, solid kettle if you prefer.

Inevitably the bright polished metal body and stand gets covered with water stains and fingerprints. Serious wiping and cleaning is needed to retain the good-as-new look.

The lid is a devil. When it's closed its held in place by two little bent metal spring clips on the inner edge. It is very stiff to open and close. It certainly won't flap open accidentally when full of recently boiled water. So 10/10 for safety I guess. But, oh what a nuisance in regular use. You are advised that the spring clips can be adjusted by bending them more or less to achieve the desired friction. But that's the job of a lifetime. Bend a bit. Uh-oh, too loose. Bend a bit the other way. Uh-oh, too tight. Bend a bit back again. Uh-oh, too loose again. Etc etc. Even when it's almost perfect you're certain, "Another little tweek will get it ... " Uh-oh!

Anyway, it does indeed boil water (did I mention that?) and I can't see it wearing out or breaking any time soon. But nice as it is, it is quite expensive. So overall, it's not really a best buy recommendation.
