After 52 years still a great masterpiece

Watched again tonight, I last saw it when it first came out in 1965. It is truly a masterpiece that will live on. Every part played to perfection, a glorious score and magnificent filming. I was 23 and now I am 75 so it brought back so many memories. I appreciated more now I am old and have had so many more experiences.

This was my Dads favourite film so I thought I'd watch it & I can see what he meant its full of action & the acting is superb. Set during the Russian revolution it's a love story set among the turbulent times & the changes of fortune of the principal characters. A wonderful epic movie, so glad I watched it.

A Genuine and Unmissable Epic.

A glorious tale weaving the tragedy of a Russian revolution (that ended up simply replacing one vicious dictatorship with another) with the personal tragedy of Doctor Zhivago himself; the two women who loved him, his two children with one who were eventually lost to him and a third with another who never got to know him at all and a brother who, despite being on the other side, remembered him with love and affection. Ultimately very moving, thoroughly deserving of its five Oscars and its place (as at 2016) as the eighth highest grossing movie of all time.

good in parts

I hoped this would be as good as the all-time classic 'Lawrence of Arabia' by the same director. Visually stunning in many parts and based on a great story by Boris Pasternak, I did not get to the end feeling I'd seen a masterpiece. Perhaps I was just not convinced that the main characters were suffering in the way the were supposed to be!!

Kitsch Cold War tearjerker: immensely memorable despite its failings

I have never understood why Omar Sharif lets Julie Christie go off with Rod Steiger when he could have come too. But it still upsets me, a tribute to some great acting and a powerful score. Handsome, simplistic and genuinely large.

I really love the score of the film

I really love the score of the film! The music is just cinematic! I would love to see this film at the 'IMAX'. The screen photography was 'AMAZING'. The main cast was the highlight. I bought this film because it's one of the treasures of the cinematic screen that I missed during my childhood!

One of the best films of all time

One of the most epic and moving films of all time.
Brilliant cinematography, music-the reoccurring Lara’s theme is genius, acting and historical content. What more could one ask for. I can thoroughly recommend this film.

Have seen it many times but not all the way from start to finish, so I bought it so I can watch it anytime I like. Loved the movie, the actors, the scenery and especially the music. Will no doubt watch it again soon.
