From the makers of Notting Hill and Love Actually comes this charming romantic comedy about a father who discovers that a second look at the past may lead to a second chance at the future.

The film synopsis

Streaming movies on the Amazon video player on a laptop can be tricky, because of the risk of interrupted streaming caused by poor reception, so it is important to be aware of this when you rent or buy a movie to watch online. This kind of movie is for anyone who is a fan of romantic comedy films released in the 2000s or 2010s. If you buy this film on DVD, I stongly advise the customer to check the disc region code before buying it to check that it is compatible with a person's DVD or blue ray disc player. As far as I know, the disc region code for the UK and Europe is region 2.

Buying it as a brand new unused item means it is more likely to work perfectly. I am talking from experience.

Downhill all the way

You can tell when a film is going nowhere, it gradually gets slower. This one's a turkey, saved only by yhe kid actor. The rest are corpses.

Narrative family movie which will slightly pull on the heart strings...

For people dislike narrative movies, this one may not be for you.
I found the story line and creation around how to lay it out was a nice unique little twist; not one that you see very often.

this gave the story a more adult / less teen like feel to it.

While it may be a family movie, use of words like Penis; Vagina (all very much in context to the storyline) may render this non-family material for some.

All good - except maybe the pace

An interestingly-conceived plotline which would have failed were it not for Abigail Breslin, whose part is the lynchpin. Abigail Breslin is brilliant in this film, and so the film succeeds.

All the other actors play their parts well, even Elizabeth Banks who has the most thankless one.

This is a very good romcom and not bland, as so many are. It's enjoyable and engaging. The only criticism I have is that it's a touch too slow - but American films often are because American audiences like their films that way, it seems.

Definitely worth a watch.
