A friend and I completed our first wild camping and bushcraft trip for one night in Kent, England. I also used a DD hammock. That night we encountered a freak thunder and lightning storm with torrential rain. This tarp kept every drop away from me and my hammock. I am so impressed. I would definitely buy this product again, but the design and quality I can see will last for many years to come. My friend also had one of these tarps but in the coyote brown. He used a different setup and this also kept him dry on the ground all night. I only wish the stuff sack it comes in was a little larger as it is a pain to get back in after use. However this is not an issue in perspective to how amazing the tarp performs.

Updated review;
I originally had some concerns about the item in the form of a hole around one of the centre attachment points and what appeared to be frayed stitching, so in light of this I requested to return the item which usually isn't a problem.
What I got was a lady who wouldn't accept my request to return I would of paid the postage! Customer advisor from DD was obtuse and surly she told me "there is no issue with the item (she diagnosed this with limited information) and that's how it's supposed to be it's just part of the manufacture process to end up with small holes around the attachment points and the stitching and that is why DD heat seal the inside so the hole isn't a problem" and told me the "stitching is fine" all diagnosed without a proper examination.
I Got the impression once they have your money that's it they don't want to know I suspect I was just unlucky in getting the most unhelpful advisor they had too offer that day.
I had high hopes for the item and it might still prove me wrong and serve me well but as a consumer to be told your issue is non existent and the item is fine without it being examined after you have clearly asked to return is pretty poor in my opinion even if I was wrong, I could do with another size tarp also but given the customer service experience I had with DD I think I'll steer clear of their products now.
August 2021 the tarp is still going strong it has been used in some terrible conditions really strong gusts and torrential rain and it hasn't failed yet its still going strong, I've used it more times than I count.

I only bought this via Amazon rather than direct from the manufacturer because I had a gift card to use . Dispatch from the manufacturer was speedy , and delivery by Royal Mail was excellent so I had the tarp within 3 days of ordering !
I'd decided on the coyote brown colour as it seemed dark and inconspicuous as well as quite unusual compared with the ubiquitous green tarps . I was pleased to find that the colour of the actual item is a good match for the illustration , suitably drab and likely to be unnoticed in use .
The tarp appears to be very well made and quite robust, with straight accurate stitching , strong, well fixed loops (and plenty of them) and material which is a good compromise between weight and strength .

It is supplied in a bag made of the same tarp material which is a decent size to use for storage (unlike some tent bags which are a nightmare to try and wrestle the tent back into after use). In the bag, in a neat little bag of their own, are 4 cheap steel pegs and 4 lengths of braided nylon cord , each cord is around 2m long and has a lineloc type slider.
To rig the tarp up properly (and avoid it doing a kite impression in any wind) you need to supplement the pegs with some more substantial ones, and have another 10m or so of suitable cord to hand , but I guess the included cord and pegs are a nice touch to start you off.

The tarp folded and packed in to its bag makes a neat flat package (30x19x5cm) which is easy to slide into a bag or rucksac , and, including the bags, pegs & guys it comes with, the total weight of mine is 933g .

Okay, it's waterproof and it's 3 metres by 3 metres, 10 feet by 10 feet for the more masculine among you. Lots of attachment points so the only limit on different set ups is your knowledge. I went for black to reduce the light if I'm sleeping. I used this in snow as a shelter and groundsheet and it was amazing. Next time I'm in the woods this will go above my hammock. It is lighter and packs smaller than my army surplus Basra, which was smaller in size. I think that this is the best tarp on sale, and worth every penny.

Never experienced camping with a tarp before, but I will never look back now. Thanks to all the tie out points on this item, it can be hung in many different configurations. If you pre-set it up, you can have this out the bag and hung in a matter of minutes.
Our first night we were battered by wind and rain, the tarp held up beautifully, retaining it's tautness throughout the night and, more importantly, kept us bone dry.
The fabric feels pretty tough and durable, and the re-enforcement on the tie out points give me absolute confidence in their strength.

The only downsides to the item are, it does weight more than I expected, but still lighter than our tent. The weight was not an issue at all though, and if it means it's more durable then I'm absolutely fine with it.
Also, the included guy lines aren't the best and you'd likely need to purchase separate parachord. They're only about 2m long, and the fabric doesn't feel very strong. They suited fine for tying the tarp off to the ground, though they did stretch in the rain requiring re-adjustment.

Overall, super happy with this item and would happily recommend it!

They sent me the green tarp..... I only just realised this now, months later whilst asked to leave this review lol.

I haven't got used to pitching a tarp yet but Im going to stick with it. I love that it is so lightweight compared to carrying a tent, and it's definitely waterproof as I've used it in the northern isles of Scotland in howling wind and rain without problems. The main issue I have is getting the tarp taught enough to not flap about in the wind =(

Product itself is excellent quality, I just need to practise setting up different tarp configurations.

Using the tarp couldn't be easier , there are many ways to set up a shelter . Plenty of space depending on your set up . I have used mine in a thunderstorm set up as a tarp tent, this was very stable and stood up to high wind and driving rain , I kept dry and warm.
You can't go wrong with this tarp its ideal

Although only using this once I do like it. It was easy to use and also easy to pack back in the same bag after use. It gives plenty of cover for one person. (I used it with a hammock.) Looking forward to test it with other uses and set-ups.
Update: I have now used this tarp several times for both hammocking and ground shelters. It is very good quality and haven't broken yet. I was a bit concerned before using it in minus degrees but there were no problems at all. I just had to shake off the frost and stuff it back in the bag. Impressed.

Couldn't be happier with this 3x3 Tarp from DD. The tie up points and seams are strong and it packs down very small. Once out in the woods the options were almost limitless for how to have it set up. I ended up going with my favourite, the plough point shelter and there was loads of room for my kit and myself. The only thing I would question is DD's description of the colour. They have it down as a "Coyote Brown" where I would say it's a bit darker than that and more of a chocolate brown but even so it blends in with the UK's autumn colours perfectly. It has 19 tie off points in all so you can adapt it to your surroundings in so many ways. It only comes with 4 guy ropes and 4 pegs but these are cheap enough to pick up online or at your local camping store. I added a further ten pegs and bought some paracord. The great thing about this tarp is it's potential for use in so many circumstances. Pack it up in your day bag for a quick shelter when hiking or take it with you on a family picnic in the park to provide some shade. At around £35 it's a great addition to your kit.

Weighs more than my tent……BUT…..

I bought this as an insurance policy against tent damage caused by high winds to my ultralight hiking tent.

I’m dubious about the tent surviving anything above a 25mph wind so wanted something to create a wind break or temporary roof to pitch my tent under to keep things as dry as possible while setting up.

It’s perfect for that, durable, well made, rugged with great pitch points, etc. it is very heavy though, at over 900g or 2lb(ish).
It comes with 4 steel wire pegs and 2 adjustable guy lines, which is nice. I swapped the wire pegs for 6x 8” aluminium ones, which weigh more, but I feel may function better in windy conditions. Just a hunch though at this stage.

I can’t fault the tarp as a product, I’m just not looking forward to carrying it for a week at a time…….unless I need it often, in which case I won’t care of course.
