Defoe must be spinning in his grave
Robinson Crusoe is one of the world's greatest works of literature - a story that captures the imagination of children on first reading, and remains as enthralling when re-read decades later; however, this weak pastiche does neither. This would be better billed as a cut priced cross between Pirates of the Caribbean, McGyver, and Raiders of the Lost Ark - all set within an implausible Ewok village and populated by fifth rate actors from central casting who mug, pratfall, and "argh me 'arties" through a woefully inadequate plot that has little to no relation to Defoe's classic tale. No buckle is left unswashed as ridiculous gravity defying devices are created from the seemingly limitless supply of manufactured goods on the island, and the main protagonist struggles to come to terms with a weak character whilst his bare chest and quaffed hair are presumably meant to distract us......it didn't.

Yet more unwatchable dross served up by Amazon to justify it's overpriced prime service.

fantastic fun for adults and kids alike who love a good adventure story to escape into
Fantastic ! Excellent Acting, exciting, funny, beautiful scenery. Absolutely loved it. Sick of people being patronising saying it's only for kids, I'm an adult and loved watching something so good. I'm sick of sexual violence, extreme gore being the only option for adults these days, made a refreshing change to see adventure without the gore and sex. Something the family could watch together or any adult that like me wants more clean entertainment. It doesn't need to sell itself with all that nasty stuff. It really impressed me how great this was. If you like Indiana jones, pirates of the Caribbean etc you will love this. (And its not racist to give a nickname due to struggle with pronunciation of a name! -many of my European friends, asian and Egyptian friends give me a nickname because they can't pronounce mine easily, it's not an insult to my race,so not sure why people are insinuating that.) It handles well the views at the time of slavery and the bond and new understanding between two men of different skin, life, class and culture. the book was written originally in times of more ignorance and this loosely based modern imaginative story of Crusoe is careful in dealing with sensitive issues such as sexism and racism. They are a fantastic team Friday and Crusoe, a story of loyalty friendship, courage, enduring difficulty with positivity and tenacity, it's a great series to escape into. Great fun, tense at times, a good balance of adventure ,action, discovery ,excitement, humour, Heroes and villains. Nice to watch real good guys again that stand by their beliefs.

dear o dear
So many people die violent deaths in the first episode and yet not one of them bleeds a drop of blood. It must be family entertainment. That means big name stars with small parts to attract the punters leaving the lead roles to actors you've never heard of before or since. Poor attempts at humour - when is shooting someone funny. Acting average with accents that defy belief. Sean Bean with his very Northern accent is father to a proper posh Englishman. The island must be huge with mountains and wide rivers. I'm waiting for some dinosaurs.
Silly.

Gave up a third of the way through the first episode
Was looking forward to this - I've read the book and the cast made it seem that this might not be a bad attempt. Wrong! The story jumps straight into the action without any kind of character or story development, and lazily tries to make up for the former with annoying flashbacks. My second main issue is that the main character is so incredibly unlikeable; he has none of the of someone like Brad Pitt, nor the wit and mischievousness of someone like Jonny Depp. I couldn't get on his side at all and so ultimately, I just didn't care. Finally, it's rated as 16+ on Amazon which suggests it's aimed at a slightly more mature audience, but it's just not and all things considered, this is really for kids. I look forward to a darker and grittier reboot; "Hello can I speak to Chris Nolan please...."

Just awful
I was hoping for something Black Sails-esque, what I got was some very average acting, over the top performances that would be laughed of an amateur dramatics production of Pirates of the Carribean, a weird waterworld vibe with far too many gadgets than could be reasonably crafted on a island, and sadly I had trouble tolerating a single episode, the one thing I will say in its defence it would probably be a 2 star review if you had very young children....and they drank a lot of lead paint.

Distinctly average
Very difficult to watch due to the wooden acting of Philip “I’ll take my shirt off again” Winchester, and the thoroughly implausible tree house city he somehow manufactured. The occasional appearance of big names does nothing to fix the woeful plot which has for some reason been strung out to 12 episodes. If they had gotten rid of all the garbage scenes, they might have been able to pull together a reasonable 6 episode series worthy of an additional star or two in my rating, but as it is, I recommend giving this a miss.
