Who is this for?

Disney obviously spent a lot of money on this film, but we turned it off after about half an hour. Who were they aiming it at? Its's not really a family film and it's too juvenile for adults and wouldn't hold the attention of younger children. Teenagers are more sophisticated in their viewing now so I am really lost to know who it's meant for. We found it frivolous and annoying - very disappointing, and by the way Disney the whole Dalmation thing is a bit old hat now. The two stars are for the production quality which as you would suspect is spot on, otherwise this is a big thumbs down (ps Why on earth did Liberty's of London put their name to this - oh I know, there must be money involved).

A modern 'retro' classic

I couldn't have loved this film more.
Beautifully shot with a style that makes the 1970s look so good.
The two leads - Emma Stone and Emma Thompson - are both amazing in their parts and The Baroness character (Thompson) is a new evil heroine to love forevermore.
The film comes up with a clever origin story for Cruella and explains why she became the person she did.
Great soundtrack too and beautiful shots of London throughout.
This film is being added to my list of classics that I watch again and again and again.

Superb film explaining the back story and creation of the famous Cruella DeVille from 101 Dalmatians. Great for any age, but really cleverly written, weaving a sensitive storyline explaining the complicated backstory of an often portrayed one dimensional villain.
Suberbly cast and sumptuously filmed. Watch it!

An absolute blast

I absolutely loved this film, it was a blast. The quirky humour and style suited me down to the ground, I’d advise you to have a glass of wine and enjoy the rollicking ride!
Emma Stone’s English accent grated a bit, as the use of Americanisms such as ‘gotten’ - I mean really? In Seventies London? But it just added to the fun really.
Emma Thompson was FANTASTIC as always.
I’m bound to watch this again when I need cheering up and some pleasing brain salve.

Loved it :)

This was such a clever adaptation to Dodie Smith's novel and disney's films. It was totally connected to every thread of the story and sets itself up as the beginning of the tale and how Cruella emerges. It was contemporary and entertaining and utterly enjoyable. The whole family loved it and we usually have very different tastes in films!!

Not Cruel Afterall

Very good origins story and very well played out by all characters, funny, sad and sometimes over the top in an Ab Fab meets Disney way but a very good Disney way. Emma Stone and Emma Thompson steal the limelight but good supporting roles from everyone else.

Not too bad!

To be honest, we expected this to be pretty rubbish really having noted how bad some of the live-action Disney remakes have been lately but, actually, Cruella wasn't too bad.

It wasn't too cheesy, had a good plot and premise, and was actually funny in some parts.

For a live-action Disney remake, it wasn't awful, and I'd even go as far to say I'd watch it again...but maybe not too soon!

An entertaining fairytale

The film is like a fairytale, loved all the styling, acting and twists. Not sure if kids below 12 will appreciate but is for the adults who enjoy this sort of thing. The dvd quality is also very good, especially on 4k. Worth a watch.
