A little painful

This works only as a love letter to Rome. Otherwise it's waaay too long, the script is stilted and awkward and the dialogue is unnecessarily melodramatic. There are some 'arty' shots that feel very forced, and it felt as though it was dubbed from Italian, even though it wasn't! It was ok up until about the midpoint, then it really began to drag. It's a pretty basic story and we all know it. Why make such a long dreary meal of it?
I also don't know if I've EVER seen a version of Cinderella with no animals - aren't they kind of central to the story?
There is a Czech version from the 1970s that leaves this one in the dust...
And lastly, Cinderella’s name is *Ella*. Sleeping Beauty’s name is Aurora. Tut.

A moving, beautifully-made film

My goodness, how I loved this version! I loved the setting, the music (I'll have to see if the soundtrack is available, as the main theme is simply but hauntingly sublime), and the believable romance between Aurora and Sebastian - it ticked every box. Ms Hessler is drop-dead gorgeous and gave a great performance in this. I can't believe I hadn't heard of it before I happened upon it by chance in the recommendations for me here on Prime. It is VERY long, but I thought it was worth every minute.

Oh dear... mixed

"How did you get into our garden?"
"I fell into it by accident"
"Ouch that sounds painful" - all of this with the delivery of a wooden log...

The dialog is so poorly written. The above is just one of the many examples. It is like George Lucas but even worse. I am 10 minutes in but I can feel this is going to hurt baaaaaaad

After the child scenes pass the quality improves but yes the dialog remains rather cheesy but the delivery is better... I think the music takes after Cinema Paradiso a lot.

People complain a lot about the length but this was a miniseries that has been stitched into a movie. And I quite like a long movie. It is nice.

TOO LONG TOO BORING

Seriously i do not get the good reviews, it was too overbearing. The acting is bad, the main character is insufferable and seriously the fact that it took so long for the dimwit prince to figure who the girl was, ridiculous i do not write reviews often but this was just so bad.

Great Movie, Poor Audio/Voice Over
Verified purchase
So from watching this movie I enjoyed myself a lot. However The story and the cast was great. But the massive down fall lead to the voices. I'm pretty sure whilst watching it the characters were synced/voiced over. Which lead to problems for me i tried to ignore it. But it was just too hard to ignore, the voices sounded like they had been recorded in a isolated room in doors, without much echo. And due to this sort of ruined the movie for me. Don't get me wrong the story the Cast was amazing everything was done right just not the voices. In future movies i hope to see an improvement on this. So people can enjoy the great story it has to provide. Instead of being annoyed by the mouths not syncing completely together. And audio differences which was very noticeable. Best of luck for future endeavours!

Feast for the eyes and ears

Beautiful and soothing film great for relaxing evening. It is long so book enough time or watch it over couple of evenings. The film should be recommended for highly sensitive people, there are lovely actors, beautiful music, interiors and scenery. However nothing too dramatic or upsetting. Prepare yourself for a New Cinderella story. Highly recommend.

Wonderful Film!

Brilliant film, I love how they retold the story to be more realistic, the changes and additions such as the plot with the family deals and also Arora being a talented pianist really makes the film timeless, while still keeping the romance and magic, costume and set design was outstanding. Lovely film, I will definitely watch it again on a rainy Sunday afternoon!
