There aren't many films that Gerald Butler is in that I don't like. I thought this film was an inspirational story, all about the true real life tale of American surfing phenomenon, Jay Moriarity, played by newcomer Jonny Weston who I thought was exceptional. The heart-pounding surfing scenes were quite epic and marvellously photographed, but in my opinion the script was at times a little lack lustre. However, the actors overcame most of it and the heart of the story, learning to ride "The Mavericks" - some of the hugest waves on the planet - was enthralling. This DVD is a keeper.

Apart from Gerald Butler’s American accent, this was fantastic. The kind of story that stays with you.

Great footage and storyline. Made even more poignant by the fact it is based on a true story. We watched this without 12 year old surfing mad son and all enjoyed it.
