The name’s Bond. Jones the Bond!

Out of all of the modern Bond films, this is my favourite. I wasn’t keen when I saw that Daniel Craig has been cast as James Bond but this film changed my mind on that. It’s fast, tense and suitably cool.

The actual card game in the Casino is my favourite part. Very tense and the poisoning part was just mind blowing!

Great, great film and my favourite Bond film of the modern era.

Not really sure that I understand why this is the highest rated Bond film of all time. It was definitely better than a lot of the camp nonsense that Brosnan delivered, but its not a patch on Craig's own Skyfall, or on classics like The Living Daylights, Dr No and From Russia With Love in my opinion. Definitely not a bad Bond film, but far from the best.

Sleek Bond Adventure

When this was first released I wasn't at all sure that I liked Daniel Craig as the new Bond. It seemed then that he didn't look the part. Well, he still doesn't, but I've come to like his Bond all the same. Craig is a very decent actor and he handles himself well in action scenes. His Bond is similar to that of Dalton in that here's a ruthless Bond with very little humour. Very much the way he was conceived by Fleming.

As to the film, it's right up there with the best in the franchise. The story is great, the locations are glorious, sets and costumes are lavish and there are breathtaking action scenes and moments of great suspense. As to the cast, Mads Mikkelsen as Le Chiffre makes for a worthy villain, Eva Green as Vesper Lynd is a very memorable Bond Girl, and Judi Dench makes a welcome return as M. What's not to like?

Daniel Craig's Amazing Body of Work

Quite the bod, Daniel, quite the bod. Rising out of the Caribbean sea like Ursula Andress in Dr. No, his swimming shorts not so much camp as cramped, he sets the tone for the Craig Bond series: attractive to women, but perhaps even more attractive to men. Connery knew he was gorgeous but refused to acknowledge it; Craig basks in the attention and pouts. Not a bad actor, either.
Did anyone notice that in the big scene at the poker table there's a guy called Fukutu?
Paul Haggis's little joke, no doubt. 💜

erm it's POKER, not baccarat.
Verified purchase
Great film but I seriously wanted to just point out that the film description says they are taking part in a high stakes baccarat game. They are not. It's poker. I know Bond is famous for playing baccarat a lot, but he doesn't play it here. Although I do think he is having a quick hand of solitaire when M walks in on him in her flat.
Also, why in the name of all things Bond is Simon Abkarian given top billing in the "Starring:" section? Flat out weird.

Arrived in prompt time. Seen on dvd before which urged me to buy blu ray version. watched many bonds, not the best compared to some others. This story a little weak, distinctive effects, it was notable inconsistant image quality. good bonding movie despite the flaws as bond faces off with ruthless terrorist financier hinges on a poker game. grown tired of this romantic, passionate spy vision heroics, instead the purposeful,on the job hero. some over the top. Actions set pieces okay.

Craig's debut and a good Bond film
Verified purchase
Daniel Craig's debut as James Bond. I was not so sure he was the right choice for Bond but time has changed my mind and for me he is the best Bond there has been, so far. This is a good James Bond film with humour, action, intrigue, romance and baddies. The usual. It is done well in this film and this is a good one and entertaining. Well worth a watch.

Love this movie, watched it countless times the action scenes are relentless and the card game is a huge highlight. Even Richard Branson makes a cameo appearance at MIA airport! The Classic Aston Martin makes another appearance alongside the DB5 Sport (wish this was in the movie for longer!). The finale in Venice is spectacular amd heartbreaking 💔 well worth a watch on Prime Video for free! Enjoy!
