Reminds of the Ol' Days

Though in the product description manufactured from "pique cotton for a soft feel", the Waimak rather reminds of the old style rugby shirts many of us first wore in school - robust, weigh a tonne when wet and almost impossible to tear. Moving with the times, the collar too is noticeably smaller than those of standard polo-shirts, as is the case with modern synthetic rugby shirts which more often than not verge on crew-neck for collar styling (less easy to get a hud of for the tackler). The Waimak proved tricky with sizing, at first purchased in large, then exchanged for an XL as the former was a smidgeon nippit. But this comes down to personal preference in how your clothes sit on you - I do not happen to like close-fitting garments, though even at XL I have had better-fitting items; this bordering on voluminous. With this in mind, the sleeves either way (XL or L) are short for a polo-shirt so 'noodle arms' would not be a recommended look: investing in a set of dumb-bells for any prospective t-shirt wearing is almost always sound logic. A smart shirt, best worn with jeans but passable with trackies too.

Only reviewing as to the seeming madness regarding sizing in the reviews.

I am a bit of a barrel-chested (42”) short (5,6) rugby player weighing 79kg, I ordered with a little trepidation a medium, was scared due to the other reviews...

...it’s as it says it is. The people reviewing this saying it’s too small are ordering sizes that I assume they used to be or want to be. But it exactly as you would any other regular fit polo.

Years ago I used to love Fred Perry polo shirts but when they became too costly to justify, I switched to Nike. Although fairly happy with Nike I found the comfort a bit off and the shirts seemed a little shorter in length than I would have liked so here I am trying Canterbury and what a find.

Great quality, super comfortable and the fit is absolutely spot on. I can't fault anything with this shirt and considering I spent £13 it's an absolute steal. I'm surprised a few reviews are claiming the fit is tight, I'd personally advise go for your natural size.

Most guys know the moment they pull a polo shirt over their head if they are going to like it or not, this is one of those shirts you know is going to fit well the moment you slip your arm into it, the cotton is soft yet has a hard wearing feel to it.

I'd imagine this would also make an ideal work shirt, I will be finishing this review and ordering a couple more.

I ordered on Amazon Prime day so got a right bargain.
Having browsed & looked at reviews I ordered the XL as others had commented about the sizing- I always go for L in T's. Polo's & jackets/ jumpers.
I am 6' 1" & whilst not at my prime (weight & build wise) I do not have a big pot belly!
The product is a good fit, so maybe consider a size up as others have said. Quality of the material is excellent, a soft cotton feel, good fit on the shoulders & nice length, sometimes the fit can be a bit short for me with other Polo's.
For the price this is a good value Polo, I have another arriving today in black & will look at Canterbury now for others.

This was a lovely quality Polo shirt - a great, heavy cotton weave (on arrival). I am a big fan of Canterbury rugby products for myself and two teenage boys. Unfortunately, the size of this Polo shirt was far too small - including the size guide on the website: I wear 44" XL size Canterbury rugby shirts and this was supposed to be XXL (I wanted it a bit looser) but it was far, far smaller than Canterbury products usually are - and too small to fit comfortably. I'd suggest the XXL Polo was nearer a Large in other most other products.
Amazon have been great and immediately returned - hence the 3 *s.
Unfortunately, I bought this on a great deal so no longer available at the same price otherwise I'd buy again but bigger.

Ive sent a handful of tops and pants back due to NOT being the size I ordered the reason for that is clearly the Chinese makers setting their sizing by Chinese sizes and the makes not bothering to check. Canterbury's another I'll have to add to the "don't trust their sizing" mob.
Far too tight for an XL, more like a Large. And too short in the body. An appalling combination.

Dubious about this top being 2nd's,took out of package and immediately seen the shoulders were out of shape but thought this might be the way it was packaged,put it through the wash and when i went to iron it on close inspection the shoulder seams seem twisted and it just looks awful on with two big lumps on the shoulder area,save your money on this garment and go to a reliable sports shop,will not be buying again.

I'm a 40" chest and under normal circumstances, I would buy a 'M' for medium size. Having read some of the reviews, its clear that the sizings are all over the place. I asked a question as to what size I should have and a respondee said 2XL. On this basis I bought a shirt, it arrived promptly, no issues there at all.
However, it swamps me, its at least two sizes too large for me so I sent it back by return of post.
I honestly couldn't recommend buying a shirt from this company when the sizings are so blatantly different to normal UK shirt sizes.
