Benefits of Pull Saws

Japanese carpentry is renowned across the globe and Japanese saws have been used within their native land for centuries. They are a relatively new type of saw to the western world compared with traditional western hand saws. These saws cut on the push stroke, whereas the teeth on these Japanese saws are angled towards the handle and hence cut on the pull stroke.

The immense benefit of this is that blades are much thinner than push-stroke saws as there is no need to compensate for the risk of the blade buckling. Thinner blades mean cutting through less material, and hence more efficient and precise cuts. Mastering using this type of saw is easy and once you're proficient, you'll find that using your own body weight to anchor your timber whilst pulling the saw will become an effortless motion.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you’re looking for a quality Japanese Saw, this is for you

Very impressed by this Japanese Pull Saw! I wasn’t 100% sure about it at first, but it works extremely well so far. It didn’t come in a fancy box, but I don’t care about that. It looks well made, the blade is thin and very sharp. The handle has a really good grip and gives you ample space for pulling safely and efficiently. The product also arrived really quick. I ordered in the morning and it arrived early evening. All-star winner!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant 👏

This saw is amazing especially for hand cutting mitre joints on mdf architraves. No fluffing or flaking and as this saw cuts on the pull stroke it seems to give a nice straight cut. Wish I had bought one years ago. Takes a bit of getting used to as it works opposite to a traditional saw but the results are worth it.
