Sensitive, thought provoking drama

"I'm gonna give them what they want. Then they die." Stallone has the pick of the script here. A bad man doubling up with Sung Kang (the only good cop in town - and he's not from this town anyway) a slight steal on the 48 Hours (Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte) movie from 1982. But it is good. It is fun and it is a great movie to watch (try it with Budweiser and pizza). The villains are suitable nasty (Jason Momoa plays Keegan - every bit as capable as Stallone's baddie; Adewale Akinuoye Agbaje is the Mr Big played with suitable creepiness); the principle lady is a revelation (Sarah Shahi as Lisa) - a tattoo artist with a medical background (good at removing bullets from good cops shoulders); and the Special Guest appearances are divine - Milos Milicevec plays the "Tall Goon" in a nuanced and sensitive manner. So park your liberal intellectuality, and revel in a fun and action packed movie.

Stallone is like a fine wine...gets better with age

Stallone does what he does best here. No Oscars will be won, but he's far more watchable than some of those who would win one. Well worth watching, but don't expect too much cerebral exercise. It's just a good 'ol shoot-em-up film with plenty of violence and slick one-liners from Stallone. 90 minutes enjoyed.

'ENJOYABLE ROMP'
Verified purchase
After his partner is killed, 'Jimmy Bobo' reluctantly teams up with
'cop' 'Taylor Kwon' realizing that both have probably been targeted by
the same source.
They set out for revenge tracking down the 'bad apples' trouble is the
harder they shake the tree the higher up the ladder they have to climb.
the stakes are raised when 'Jimmy's' daughter is snatched as a bargaining
tool.
'Taylor' wants to follow the letter of the law whilst 'Jimmy' has no such
subtleties, he solves issues with bullets.
this is an action packed 'romp' ( typical 'Sly' style ) which is well worth
a spin.
** I kinda wonder how long the likes of 'Sly' 'Arnie' and 'Bruce' will
continue to play these 'action-hero' roles ( surely they don't need the
cash these days )
Don't get me wrong,I love their kind of on screen action, just watched
this one, watched 'Arnie's' 'The last stand' a week or so back and
Hope to have 'Bruce's' 'A good day to die hard' through the post next
Monday.
I'm sure i'll enjoy the latter as much as I have the other two......

Worth a watch

Some people might overlook a lot of these newer films staring 80's action stars, but if you go into them expecting a good old fashioned action film with little depth, you'll be bound to have a good time. This is definitely a good time, though not exactly a masterpiece like his earlier films.

Captivating it ain't, but worth watching Sly's attempt at noir. Good cast helps, too.

Thoroughly schematic, but with few twists along the way. Classic noir. More than the plot I enjoyed the cast - I saw Sly's name at the poster, showed in Jason Momoa search, but the rest was pleasantly surprising.

Good movie for weekday evening, but be warned: it's no masterpiece

Brilliant as Sly does it again.

Rambo, Stargate, and Fast n Furious actors rolled into one Brilliant movie. Once again another outstanding, action packed movie that was amazing to watch and as usual Stallone has plenty more to offer. I love these movies and the actors were all an added bonus. And that Babe daughter Tattoo Artist. Yummy. Great movie and highly recommended. Love it... Deserves more than 5*****.
I don't usually write reviews but this was so good I had to put forward my comments. Hope all the rest of the to be released movies in the next few months are as good. Will watch this again at least a few more times. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.

Enjoyed this.

It is a Sly movie and that is exactly what you are going to get. Not too complicated, plenty of action, a few good laughs, and if you don't like any of those this film might not be for you.

Good Movie for action and underworld/big business shenanigans

Good movie overall with very good performances by the protagonist Stallone and the antagonist 'Aquaman'. Let down somewhat in places by the Asian actors poor script, i.e. naivety.
