The M-65 is a hip-length field jacket of the US armed forces. Their robustness and comfortable cut are legendary. Established since 1965, it has a style-forming effect on the fashion of her time for decades and became a kind of personal trademark with recognizable value. The warm inner jacket made of polyester is quilted and unbuttoned. The outer jacket made of cotton can be worn without lining even on cool summer days. There is also a hidden cotton hood in the collar. For the perfect fit, there are internal hip bands for width adjustment. Two chest/hip flap pockets with press stud closure provide plenty of storage space. Of course, the shoulder flaps with button closure and the cuffs with adjustable Velcro are indispensable for the M-65. Product information / material: outer material: 65% polyester, 35% cotton. I can, however, comment on the sizing: I am a fairly average Large size male that takes a large in most clothes. Neck to waist 19.5", inside arm 20", chest 43", waist 34" with a slight gut. However, I decided to order a medium in this jacket. I'm glad I did. The sleeves are perfect with the tip of the hand protector just sitting on my top knuckles, the fit (with liner in) is just enough to allow for most casual movements and to feel comfortable but still give a fitted, figure complimenting appearance. The bottom seam just sits level with the bottom of the buttocks. If worn with liner there wouldn't be any room for a midlayer, just a t-shirt, but since I only wanted it as an Autumn/Spring jacket, it's perfect. It also gives me the option to remove the liner and use the outer as a shell over a hoody or on it's own. It's an awesome looking bit of kit and well worth the price.
However, a few weeks later, I decide to buy the M65 Classic. Since the feedback for these pieces were not that accurate (some say they are for the large, others say they have a cut too fit) and considering that this particular piece has a inner removable layer (the inner layer of the Britannia Winter jacket is not removable) and since I would mostly wear it in Winter time with additional clothing underneath, I decided to buy the "XL" size. Well, this particular piece (at least the one I received) has a cut for the loose and bigger size. So, when I wore it in front of the mirror I simply couldn't see my hands. They would disappear entirely inside the sleeves. The sizes for these particular pieces are really that big. For, instead of exchanging it for a "L" size (my regular fit in almost everything) I took a leap of faith and ordered one size bellow. So I send the item back to England (It costed me 16 Euros by the Portuguese registered post mail) and requested its replacement (made a new order, that is) of the same piece on the size "M". And can you believe it? It was right on spot. The jacket dresses as suppose to be, and still with enough space underneath to wear a more warmer pullover or fleece. The sleeves length is also ok. Perfect fit from the box. So… my two cents about the matter. Hope you are happy with yours. Ah, one last thing: the guys (and girls) at Military First (the seller) refunded the full amount on my Visa card of the initial order. Just remember to keep the original box and all the paper work you received, to make things easier for returning the item and the refund. Best regards to you all from Madeira island.
It has 4 pockets.
It has a strap on each shoulder to secure a backpack.
It has a velcro strap to bind the collar.
it has a thread inside to tighten the waist.
It has detachable insulation inside, which makes it a great practical winter jacket, as well as a hood that can be tucked into the collar of the jacket discretely in the event of impromptu rain.
It has a front zip + outer buttons to conceal the zip.
Build quality is great, no fraying threads, however one of the internal buttons that secure the detachable insulation is loose, but this does not bother me.
Overall, this is an excellent imitation M65 for the price.
