Kate Blanchett is painfully mesmerizing in this multifaceted exploration of class, privilege, and madness.

I found this a very painful but Moorish watch. Woody Allen has an ability to transmute polite societies follies into a visceral comment on its vacuous and superficial existence. He does this best through the vehicle of female muses and none better acted than kate Blanchett. This must be amongst her finest work. Allen pulls no punches at seamlessly using working class memes in exposing the empty life's of the rich and educated classes. In affect there are no differences in needs and wants just the cruel exposure of how both classes abuse their respective peers. Alcohol and pharmaceutical props feature heavily for both classes with mental health thematic in this drama. Woody is a master alchemist in transmitting his real life observations to the big screen. A sad revealing indictment on occidental life and self inflicted tragedy.

Cate Blanchet deserves an Oscar for her portrayal of her character in this movie.

Cate Blanchet plays a cheated wife, both financially and emotionally. Her 'nervous' scenes where she is on the verge of a breakdown, are brilliant. I should imagine it must have been exhausting to shoot this movie for her as its almost every scene apart from the ones where she feels uplifted by her wealthy and somewhat 'snobbish' friendships. This is a really good watch.

I have seen this several times- twice at the cinema. It’s an oddball drama/comedyish film about a high-flying socialite who drops very hard into mental health and financial troubles. It’s full of great acting and it’s something you’re either going to love or hate.

Script is nothing much but Kate Blanchett oh boy! She is absolutely incredible in this movie. If you want to see one of the best acting in the world, Kate is your choice.

Cate Blanchett is phenomenal and utterly mesmerising in this film

Cate Blanchett is phenomenal and utterly mesmerising in this film. Superbly acted by all of the cast to be honest and an interesting film to follow and the story telling both script wise and cinematically is smooth and clever.
If you are looking for funny one liners, or giggling away and action-packed then keep away. An all in all great Allen film and up there with some of my favourites.

okay but wouldn't watch it twice

Excellent portrayal of a woman whose life is falling apart.
Wouldn't watch it again - fairly boring and repetitive dialogue.
I can see how some people find it humorous-characters are almost caracatures.

Decent film with ok plot - and a first-class superb performance from Kate Blanchet. Overall the film was not as good as the reviews suggested and a mark deducted because we had to pay nearly £4 on Prime to watch it ?

A movie without beginning or ending, just a long sequence of misfortunes.
Fantastic acting by Cate Blanchett.
As to Woody Allen, sure he watched "A streetcar Named Desire" many times before written and directing "Blue Jasmine".
Unfortunately, it has plagiarism written all over it.
