A very bias account, very loosely based on a true story.

Overall the film was better than expected.

When I first heard about it, and saw that imbecile Callum was playing Arnold I was sure I'd avoid it, (and he is absolutely awful).

However after seeing the trailer I thought I'd give it a try.

It makes Weider out to be a FAR better, more idealised man than he was.

He made a fortune selling rubbish to people for decades, and was not in it for the greater good.

He was also not the first person to put a black guy on the cover of a magazine, his 'fictional enemy' in this film had already done that in real life.

Things like that really spoiled the movie for me.

Modern bodybuilding would not be at it is without Joe, he created an empire, and an honest account of his life would have been enough, no need to embellish so much.

Lacks Passion

Its a strange thing to say, but the person that fought to bring bodybuilding, exercise equipment and gymnasiums to your town - the film just didn't show the passion, drive and determination that Joe Weider had.
Joe Weider was behind HUNDREDS of modern day products, your health food stores with vitamin pills and protein powders were amongst the first products he brought out.
A lot of the training equipment was based on his ideas and he introduced Arnold Schwarzenegger to the world and he became the highest paid box office star.
Watching this film - none of that comes through !!!!

Young Arnold steals the show, all round enjoyable movie

Fantastic breakout role for Kalum Von Moger as a young Arnold (apologies for spelling) for a relatively short role this guy has clearly put the work in even to achieve that classic physique of the time that Arnold had.

Otherwise a decent cast and fairly well written story about a highly influential figure In the bodybuilding world, naturally some scenes and events are overly dramatised for the movie but an enjoyable movie for anyone with an interest in this era of the sport.

Great to see a film about the Weider brothers

From been able to see have seen the real weider brothers on video it takes you out he movie a little. Its a shame it was a film not made earlier. I really enjoyed the film and would watch it again. It also difficult to add a sequel. I feel Alrnolds character was played down and the actor C .Moggeer fomer Mr Universe should of been able to pull of Arnolds classic routine and really emphasised it with effects lot like when he came back on the stage at the end of the pose down at he end of the Olympia.

Very good film

I really liked this film, the acting is excellent and it is based on the true story, including that of Arnold Schwarzenegger. It is well shot and set correctly, and the lead actor, portraying Joe Weider shows that he was well ahead of his time on fitness and nutrition and has since been proved to be right.

Great Story!

Though the story did seem to be more about Joe's life than that of his poor brother Ben, this was a superb film that brought out the athlete in me! Fun, informative and enjoyable all around. Definitely worth the watch, especially if you have an interest in bodybuilding!
