The premise of 'religion story' might hinders some, but I assure you this is more than that. As someone who was born in another part of the world and raised in totally different culture, I first watched it when I was a kid, pleased by the sheer power of the acting and entertained by the music. I grew up and learn more of Judeo-christian culture (found about Christmas, Church etc. when I was 10), I re-watched it in my ado. Intrigued by the story then. Currently I think I believe in God but question God's religion a lot. But even now, watching it in 4k and full-blown noice-cancelling home theatre equipment, I feel mesmerized. This is one of the best picture I ever watched.

There is a bit of things for everyone. Drama about humanity and power. Beautiful scenery to watch. Epic battle. Beautiful people to please one's eye. Do not let the date of the production to haunt you. A good picture lasts for years to come.

RE: Heston the Great!

Hi folks,

Arguably one of the best pictures ever made!

This is the third time I have watched this in over thirty years, and I enjoy it more each time!

Notably, Miklos Rosza's breath taking film-score is one the the finest examples in history. Not once does it detract from, or interfere with the movie, and North's orchestrations are magnificently architectured to achieve maximum emotional impact upon the viewer.

Hope this helps . . .

Great Movie

This is a fabulous movie, with a cast of excellent actors. The script, the story is just so good. You never actually see the face of Jesus, but His presence permeates the movie. They don't make movies like this any more. The remake was dull. You can't improve perfection

Brilliant film - wonderful intertwined story lines of friendship, treachery, action, and redemption

The slow-burn of Ben Hur's hatred toward the treacherous Masala, which eclipsed his love for Esther, until he realised the emptiness of revenge and that Jesus was the one who took the hatred out of his heart and redeemed him.

A Great Film.

Splendid! Even now. The music dates it, but the power of the story, Charlton Heston's acting, along with all the other amazing characters make it one of my favourite films of all time. I can watch it again and again.
