Excellent film, full of beautiful story telling, belly laughs, attention to detail and wonderful characters. Fell in love and smiled all the way through. Well worth watching if you like a gentle witty story beautifully translated into stunning visuals.

Fantastic Little Film - Wrong Copy

The film is a little gem, caught it by accident one night and thoroughly enjoyed it. A great heart warming story, excellent quirky characters and great acting all round, with Jessica Brown Findlay being the standout.......Only problem is I bought it on disc (I like Hard Copies) It wasn't stated which region it was from, so it being on a co.uk site I thought it was for the UK, nope it was a US import so doesn't work on my BR/DVD players or PS4, the Digital download doesn't work either, luckily I managed to download a copy from elsewhere but the Regions should have been shown on the ad.

Beautiful wee gem of a movie

Lovely quirky British movie. Low-key love story set against a background of dysfunctional characters, young and old, thrown together by circumstance. Excellent cast, writing & direction. Can't understand why this film has not had more attention. Strongly recommend.

Fed up with hitmen, mindless violence and Marvel dazzle?

Charming in an admirably imperfect way. Jessica Brown Findlay is awkwardly gorgeous and immensely watchable. The story unfolds in quiet and well-observed details. All characters well-casted and played. This is a film for an unhurried moment away from the pumped-up dazzle of written-by-numbers Hollywood film-making. I can't wait to see it again.

The movie equivalent of background music

It doesn't really pull the heart strings when you expect it to or even make you shed a tear when it trys to. The lead actress is very watchable and I didn't watch Downton so think she could be a big star in the future with the right role but how her Bella is supposedly very severely affected by OCD and has cleaning rituals can go to work in a dusty library I've got no idea. The last 15 minutes is horribly rushed and ruined any emotional engagement you will have with the characters (I mean come on triplets and ground force?) Costumes are fantastic and off beat soundtrack interesting but put this on when you it's raining outside and you are tired and you will nod off before the end. And if you have visited any RHS gardens this will be very disappointing if you are watching for the plants.

Truly beautiful film

I first watched it with my wife and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Story line follows a relationship between a young woman that lives next to a very grumpy older man. They share a love of garden, although this is not obvious from the out-set. As the relationship evolves, in a none sexual sense, the woman achieves a degree of break through with the older neighbour when he overlook her gardening skill or lack of them and guides her in improving the garden she has with the property rented. We both finished the film laughing not that it was fashioned to build laughter but become of the grumpy old man's input and how many men can come across as grumpy without even trying. Recommend yes.

Preposterous

Dreadful script, unbelievable and jerky story-line, sketchy acting - even the costumes tried too hard. Overall a forced attempt at a quirky and wholesome film. I stopped watching when the inventor tells the lead female "it would be rude to say no" to come to his home....not a great message to send out, plus why did he happen to have two motorbike helmets with him?!
