Might as well bombard the beast with snowballs!

One of my favourite films. Especially with one of the actual ships that fought in the action, HMS Achilles. Also contains one of my favourite lines too. Permission to revise list of spares. Brilliant!

This is a film well worth watching, along with Cruel Sea and Sink the Bismarck, really gives a good feel for the Royal Navy during WW2.

Not widescreen version!

There are a few different versions of this movie available but it’s not clear what each offers. This version is remastered(ish) but 4:3. There is a widescreen version available on dvd and a blu ray version that apparently has some scenes cut for no apparent reason. No idea why ITV can’t do an uncut blu ray or the download version doesn’t sate it’s 4:3. If you have a flat screen tv I’d avoid the download.

Wasn't aware I had ordered this as I am with Prime but have been charged £9.99 for a film that is 53 years old and has been on terrestrial TV numerous times, I understood my films and videos on prime where free

The Navy is here!

No CGI here! Made with real ships and real people. A true to history tale of British naval derring-do back when we had a proper navy. It has to be viewed in the historical context of the time, we stood alone and the German navy was a real threat to our supply routes, one of these pocket battleships could happily sink an entire convoy with the escorts as a starter before breakfast.

Another classic movie

This is another classic wartime movie. It has some moments when you might cringe from the facial motions of the prime characters, but this was a movie for the wartime generation in the postwar era. It was all great stirring stuff with the usual confection of dry humour so much a factor of British movies.

Classic WW2.

Awesome film. It’s been one of my favourite WW2 action films since I was a little kid.
I’d love to see it remade with today’s CGI without adding crap like love interests, just stick to the facts and it would be amazing.
