Male Bad - Female Good
Verified purchase
I've watched many Russian made movies and thankfully for the most part their industry hasn't been infected by Hollywood SJW ideology (yet). This one is pure propaganda and in a nutshell it boils down to male bad, female good. We have seen this theme spewed by Hollywood countless times in the west and now the theme targets Russians which I know in general they wont fall for. The story is infantile (even for teenagers, its target audience), totally unrealistic and could have been written by a 10 year old. But the story wasn't important, this was an attack on masculinity dressed up in Hollywood feminist style programming. The premise of the story had much potential, and with a decent cast this could have been a great sci fi film - what a waste of talent.

Interesting new take on an old school sci-fi vision
Verified purchase
Clever visuals and designs, old sci fi story with a re-imagination. Twists are not startling but well handled but in this current age it is more relevant than ever. The dude who plays the alien gave a very understated but well thought out performance. As a big hard sci fi fan I didn't expect to enjoy this as much as I did.

Middling Sci fi with a confused message

This movie had the potential to be so much more, but it very much devolves into the movie visiting every stereotype in Hollywood movies, tho in a very charming and engaging way.

I think the effectsare very good and appropriate, but the movie makers effort to inject emotion into the movie essentially leads to the young people yelling about being misunderstood even as they enact sterotypes that have been around for eons.

Girl falls for good looking super powerful Alien and trusts every thing he says, Ex is maybe not too pleased, the fate of All mankind hangs in the balance and ,, perhaps you can guess,,

If nothing else, it leads me to a renewed appreciation of the re make of
"The day the Earth stood still" with Keanu Reeves.

Distrinctly unattractive shambles from start to finish

A stupefyingly awful piece of film-making, this Russian-made gibberish has nevertheless been thought suitable for Prime audiences by Amazon. Set in a modern day Moscow that looks too ugly to even be habitable, the story revolves around the arrival of a crash-landed spacecraft. Presumably deciding that the movie would have a better chance of international success if dialog was dubbed rather than flagged up in subtitles, the production deploys an assortment of some of the world's worst voice-actors to provide badly-synched exchanges in American accents. It says much for the inadequacy of budget as well as technical accomplishment that not only does the dialog alternate between the unintelligible and the downright unbelievable, there's also little evidence of employment of anyone in Continuity: characters appear in one scene which jump cuts to another without logic but within which they reappear -- somehow -- with a change of wardrobe. Don 't waste your time on this tripe; the acting is as dire as the direction, and about the worst advert for Russian cinema it's possible to find. Mr Putin is unlikely to have been amused.

This could have been a great movie. The storyline was sluggish, like a drunk trying to find their way home after having also been spiked with Rohypnol. The plot was okay-ish, but the über-violent (though typically Russian) attitude of Tyoma, the gung-ho reactions of the 'gang' and the implausible progression of its escalation to a mob, the lack of communication at key places when it was most needed and the superficial skimming over of what might have been areas warranting - crying out for - further exploration, meant that the frustrations far outweighed the pleasure for me. Why bother with a good dialogue when you can weave so much gratuitous and unnecessary violence into a story instead? What was their issue? It seemed very much like an anti-government movie, or rather a pro-government / anti typical disaffected Russian moron movie. Perhaps. Confused and confusing. Two stars is all this gets. However, the CGI was good and I did watch the opening a couple of times.

Almost four stars out of five. Dubbed but still totally enjoyable.

I honestly forgot by about half way through that the movie was dubbed. Either the action or actors held my concentration, or I subconsciously switched off from it.

It's actually a solid movie experience. Maybe just a fraction long in the end. However I never stopped wanting to watch from start to finish, so it's a fairly strong movie.

Great CGI feast.

Despite of their amazing CGI feast, but for the youth and poor plots.
The good works of CGI must have taken them so long, so expensive and you would have not expect it from Russia but for the youth ... (yeah they're usually messy little tikes)
I'd feel the young woman Julia were in the right place but the gang of youth and high testosterone young male really have unravelled the whole structure of this movie and rendered it a drowned fish.
If they has planned this more carefully and few more of sleepless nights, this movie would have made it as a world-class blockbuster.
It's worth watching if you're a CGI fan or an ET buff but do not expect the storyline to be that great.
I still have high hope for another of Russian Movie ... they deserved some recognition ... ahead.

Could have been even better.

Sorry, but only three stars for this. It could have been so much better.
The CGI and visuals were great, but it doesn't mean the movie was great. As with a lot of these movies, they are far too long and protracted. The plot was like many others, in that aliens crash on Earth and begin to repair their ship, with the usual suspicion, hatred and fear shown towards them. If they had stuck to that, it would have been much better, but going off at a tangent with in lovers tiffs, infighting amongst the 'street gang,' and the inevitable lead who, as usual, defies his/her parents and sets off to seek vengeance for their dead friend, only to find that, oh yes, the aliens aren't that bad after all, and, in this case, HER father isn't the control freak she thought he was, spoilt what could have been a really good movie.
