Very touching

A very touching feel good show about a girl who was lucky enough to have a wise mother to teach her how to do good and meaningful things for others. In the end, the girl learned how to be a better person and felt a lot better for it.

Cutest thing I've seen in forever. I very much hope that Amazon continues this story. What a good example she sets! :)

Hurrah For MaryEllen
My granddaughter and I watched this film together. She is seven and loves American Girl dolls. She has two and plays with them often. She is also a very sweet young girl who thinks of others, and this film could have been about her.

In 1955, the world was different in many areas, but particularly for women and girls. Girls were not allowed to wear pants, and not many women worked outside of the home. Maryellen was a renegade and an artist. When a friend and her son cane to stay while the son had surgery, MaryEllen went to work.

This was a lovely, fun film for young girls with a great message.

Good moral story but wooden acting
The story has a good message for young children. However the acting is wooden. The script is slow moving and unrealistic. Very scripted performances. The main character looks like she's wearing a wig the whole way through. You can't 'lose yourself' in the story as it doesn't flow, you just move from one scene to the next.
