Over the years my wife and I have watched this film several times together and have as yet failed to do so without being reduced to tears. We view it as a personal challenge now and I would extend that same challenge everyone of you. No matter how tough or unemotional you think that you are, this brilliantly written written story of a family coping with the loss of a child will reach you, then break you. Accept this challenge, I dare you.

sweet and sentimental, may be too sweet

sweet and sentimental, may be too sweet, like you have had too many mars bars in one go.
Having said so, still a nice feel good movie that reinforces strong family values. The acting would benefit from being more subtle and understated.
Good film to watch with children but far too sentimental to my liking

A flawed storyline and script

The premise was hard to believe. The script was poor. The appearance of the actors never changed throughout the film. An unfortunate experience I'm afraid.

Well worth your time
Excellent film ,well put together with good performances by all. It is about an Irish family moving to America. They struggle financially and emotionally but meet great new friends. The enjoyment is in the characters being well enough developed that you care what happens, and experience the journey with them.
