Works well, but took me a while to figure out why the two extra monitors were not recognised by the laptop (using a port replicator/dock to connect my laptop to two monitors with VGA inputs). If you have an HDMI port that has a good power supply behind it (most of them do), then this probably will not be an issue. However, I was connecting from mini-displayport --> HDMI --> VGA --> monitor. The mini-displayport on the port replicator/dock I am using (Surface Book 2) does not have enough power available to run this converter, so you must connect a USB cable to a decent supply to get this to work.

Apart from that, they work well. No over/underscan, decent colours, looks like digital signal.

Remember that this converts HDMI to VGA. NOT VGA to HDMI as some of the posts here are trying to use this for.

This basically doesn’t work. Not sure whether it’s faulty, or the concept is flawed but either way it does not fulfil its purpose. I needed this urgently to work from home without a full set up. It took a ridiculous time to arrive. Once it did it basically didn’t transmit the signal Consistently so the feed to the monitor would cut out constantly.

update 15/10/20 - this has now stopped working. Being as the company no longer has these I am not entitled to get a refund or replacement!!!

I bought this to use my Xbox One S on a free tv I picked up. HD ports didn’t work but the VGA did. That’s what here this little gem comes in. HDMI side into the Xbox, VGA cable on the other and up to the telly. Job done. 1080p quality and perfect for game play. The audio out port work too with just a set of headphones but is obviously quiet. A sound bar or the like would sort that with the extra volume. £9 delivered and I got a dedicated 42” LED for myself that the wife won’t nick the remote for.

I tried this to run a Powerpoint presentation from my Windows 10 computer on an Optoma Data Projector. With a bit of prsusion it eventually transferred the background image of the desktop on the Optoma screen, but it stayed that way. When I tried to run the Powerpoint presentation it just didn't transfer to the data projector.

I am told by Optoma that it is not possible to 100% convert HDMI to VGA.

I just wonder why my new Windows 10 machine doesn't have a VGA port

Tried another brand of VGA adapter a few months back, simply did not work so returned it for a refund. The low price of the HMDI to VGA adapter made me a bit dubious, but I was wrong. Arrived promptly as promised, switched monitor off, connected VGA plug to adapter and connected the cable to the HMDI socket on my Lenovo laptop. Switched monitor back on, working perfectly. Only thing I then had to do was go into the laptop settings to disable the speaker output to the monitor (no speakers fitted) and enable my Creative speakers. Simple, quick, improved picture quality and great value. Highly recommended.

I am very happy with this little gadget. I recently bought TheC64 retro computer, which only has a HDMI output for combined video and audio. None of my monitors have built-in speakers, so for my PC I use separate speakers with a 3.5mm jack; standard stuff. My monitors do however have VGA input. This device plugs into the HDMI port of TheC64, I plug a VGA cable between my selected monitor and this device, and plug my speakers straight into this device. Picture and sound quality are both great. A great solution for the price.

Not much to say about this item. It worked and has been reliable. Connectors fit fine. As its a monitor cable, it has not been removed once fitted, so it's not possible to say anything about robustness, but it looks fine at the moment.

I was really excited about this: other VGA-to-HDMI converters have the audio port in a weird spot, and this one was perfect to hook up my VGA monitor to a multi-HDMI splitter so I could connect the same computer screen for use with my PC or a Blu-Ray DVD player.

Alas...it doesn't work. Plugs in nicely, looks great, but unfortunately doesn't function the way that it's supposed to. I don't recommend buying this product.
