I tried to get help through Amazon...It was impossible !! I think it is time Amazon realized that not everyone has a Smart `phone and able to `tap` a screen. Also. they need to make it easier to get help when needed.
I got really upset about it and it spoilt the surprise from my son.
Why should you top up when you could simply just pay for the stuff on Amazon by using a debit or credit card? Well I've pondered over this very question for a while now and I always come to the same conclusion. That conclusion, which I may add took many twists and turns in my head, is that it lets you save up for the things you want further down the line, it's as simple as that.
However, the top up function has its merits. For instance, I forget things quite a lot, and sometimes when I'm buying something which is expensive and go to checkout, I am pleasantly surprised with the message that I have a gift card balance, now that puts a smile on my face and I have the option of using it or ignoring the balance for another day.
As well as adding to the balance yourself, you sometimes get free money to apply to the balance, I'm not talking about presents off friends and family, I'm talking those free thank you gift card Amazon vouchers, now that's where the top-up balance comes into play. Just recently I had a £20 gift card from Amazon for just opening up an Amazon credit card, now that's free money.
What I would like to see is an option where Amazon automatically rounds up your purchases to the nearest pound and applies the difference to the gift card balance. Some banks do this and it helps with saving up.
You can top up from just a £1 online, each top up is valid for 10 years!
So yeh, I like the gift card top ups, easy, fast and manageable.
The 'Reward for Top Up order' value varies, as does the 'Minimum Spend,' but the relevant sum is added to the requested top up on completion of the order, with email confirmations, namely:
1. 'We are currently processing your Amazon Top Up purchase. You will receive a notification once your balance is updated and ready to use (typically within five minutes of completing your order).'
2. ‘Confirmation of the Order summary’, i.e.:
The TOP UP AMOUNT ordered + the TOP UP REWARD = the TOTAL AMOUNT LOADED to your balance.
You can then view your balance to confirm the reward has been applied.
Topping up is so easy. The first time you might have to enter some of your card details again, to verify the card but once that is done it's just so simple. Youy go to your account and select the Top Up link. Once there you can add preselcted amounts from £10 to £500. There is also a box for you to enter yor own amount if it isn't in the preselted list.
With money losing value today every day. With the banks paying no interest on savings or paying 0.5% or less, which is way below the rate of inflation. Money in the bank is losing value whilst the baks profit from you. So, why keep it in the bank, losing value and feeding the fat cats? Any excess at the end of the month, save it through the Top Ups. OK, so it may still be losing value but at least you know the bankers that regularly ruin pour economy and scam us regularly aren't getting it. After a while you can buy some new furniture, a new TV, a new cooker etc. etc. and all at the click of a mouse.
I highly recommend the Top Up as it really is a great way to save for something later.
Today it took nearly one hour!
the new format is not very appealing
Purchasing the gift card is like any other Amazon transaction and is easy. An immediate email confirmation of the purchase is sent followed by a further email when the gift card top up is complete. I experienced a 2 hour delay in completing my transaction because Amazon carry out security checks on the bank card.
