I had to buy black trousers in a hurry for my son as we were attending a funeral and as such I also didn't want to spend loads on trousers that would be unlikely to get much wear.
These arrived and fitted reasonably well. I find as my son is very slim but tall so buying trousers/jeans anyway is never that simple as most stores you have to order them.
Luckily they did the job they were intended for and coupled with jumper. shirt and tie my son looked very smart on the day. I washed them on a gentle wash to be safe and had no problem with the end result.
Hopefully we won't have to buy again unless his weight changes dramatically but should that be the case I wouldn't have any hesitation.
