Seriously underrated movie.

I was stunned to see the blu-ray for this on sale for £1.60.

I remember the criticism for this movie when it released. I saw the film back then and felt it was harshly criticised. I remember the criticism being that it was a bit complicated because there were two villains, and many characters.

Anyway since I liked this movie I figured why-not for £1.60. Am glad I did buy it.

I sat down to watch, and told myself "Right concentrate", because they said it's a bit tricky to follow. This was even though I remember liking when I saw it before. ... I need not have worried, as the movie flowed perfectly.

There was a lot of good content, from Spidey action, to good relationship moments like with aunt May. It's paced very well, and was gripping from start to end.

I think some of the early more negatively based reviews were after one viewing. Once seen twice is more than twice as easy to follow.

If you're in doubt and want a top-notch action-hero movie, for this price, buy it.

Damn shame they didn't make more Andrew Garfield, Spiderman movies. Damn shame.

Amazing Spider-Man 1 actually got my interested in this franchise after the Tobey 'personality vacuum' Maguire movies. Garfield sort of captured the comic essence of the character and the story was well written. I can't give specifics what the issues are, maybe pacing, poor villain performances, i'm not sure, it just didn't hit right and the fact we didn't get a 3rd Garfield spidey means i'm not alone in that assessment.

The Not so Amazing Spider man

This was a huge disappointment from the last movie.

I can't pin point what was wrong with it exactly as there was too much going on, The film started out well but soon went down hill, with a mix of storylines building up characters, you went from waiting to long for drama to unfold to 20 minutes of corny fight scenes with not 1 but 3 enemies, the final scene with the rhino was very cringy almost like an enemy from the old school power ranger series.

The positive point is the acting, it goes with out saying that Emma stone and Andrew Garfield are both amazing in there roles, you really do feel the passion in their relationship , but hats off to Danny Dehaan and Sally Field Great Actor and Actress who both really dragged you in to their Characters.

I wouldn't rush out to get a copy with the expectation of the Marvel standard.

Weak in some places!

Considering Tobey Maguire had just finished the three Spider-Man movies, this was a difficult one to watch. But if you are a spidey fan the relationship works well between Gwen and Peter. As the multi universe has just been released. They should let Spider-Man 3 go through as well for Andrew

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 [DVD] [2014]

Second outing of James Garfield as Spiderman. Emma stone plays the on/off girlfriend, Gwen Stacy. Jamie Foxx is miscast as the 'evil' Electro. An introverted nerd who falls into a tank of GM electric eels, is just so wrong. It is so far from the 'accepted' Spiderman story arc of a white Oklahoma linesman who gets electrocuted by a freak storm that whoever thought of it ought be fired!

FYI: electric eels only emit a small amount of electric charge (even GM) compared to the electric charge of a lighting strike which it is on a whole other scale!

Story is ok. but muddled with no clear narrative. CGI graphics are good, but for any purists who have read the original story arcs in the comics about Spiderman, Electro and the'Sinister Six', it is a big let down. The death of Gwen Stacy, a huge turning point is the Spiderman history is just so wrong it it hurts.

If you want to spend an evening watching a DVD with an ok. story and decent CGI effects, this is for you. If you are more of a Spiderman purist and want to live out your childhood Spiderman dreams of swinging through New York on a web line, this is not for you.

For all us purists out there, we can only hope the next re-hash of spiderman is better!

The Acceptable Spider-Man 2

It's too long, too busy, too choppy, feels like films two and three of a trilogy crammed into one, whole swathes of the Spidey mythos that feel like they should have been explored are passed over or barely mentioned, occasionally the action is a tad confusing and there are, quite simply, too many characters. Waaay too many.

Now, despite all of that I felt that it's rather more fun than its immediate predecessor, particularly if you file it under 'turn your brain off, enjoy the action, one-liners and effects' and it does have occasional moments of inspiration - greater focus on Peter's scientific and technical talents and better Spider-Man costume design for example. Just don't go looking for deep character exploration, intricate plotting or backstory.

Amazing Spider man series

This followed on from Amazing Spider-Man . Continuity was good and had a reasonable storyline. However, the ending fizzled out and was really disappointing. I watched through Prime Video and it was out of sync on my TV which made it difficult to follow.

Girlfriend problems and boys fighting. Not worth watching

2 stars for the cinematography and stylistics. None for storyline, (trying to be Batman?) originality (boys fighting, yawn) and love interest (wretch!) Aimed at teenagers trying to get tips on relationships with boyfriend / girlfriend. pretty lame.
