Ridley Scott's sci fi horror classic A L I E N, Seven crew members of the Nostrumo. Returning back to Earth, get a distress call from a barren planet LV-426. Under orders they decide to land to investigate, to check it out. They come across a alien ship , and inside they see a layer of eggs in a cargo cave of it. One of them opens on one of the crew flight officers some parasite, attaches to his face and bring him back on board. That's just the beginning as . When there back in space , and going home. They dont fully know what there dealing , and the kind of alien it is , they must try and stop it and survive. Fore its too late , for them and mankind . This remains one of my all time, horror movies of all time. This new remastered directors cut , is the defentive version and, it looks and sounds fantastic. A must for all horror fans .

Not the best version.

Ok this`ll upset a few but i prefer the original over the directors cut as you see too much of the alien in this one and in places you can kinda make out where it looks as though its a guy in a alien suit but in the original more is left to your imagination creating in my opinion a more terrifying experience, but the picture quality is awesome and i cant believe its as old as it is.

Absolute genius ! Science fiction at its finest and something other directors try to follow .Proof of the talented Mr. Ridley Scott.Scenes.Scenes still make jump! Best of all Alien series are directed by Ridley Scott, watch this then go to latest Covenant which had me shouting out Watch out ! Just proof of the tension, clastrophobia, fear and realism ; No cardboard cutout scenes here !

One of the best sci fi movies to date, holding very well

One of my favorite movies, in HD with superb image quality. I can now appreciate details that were not very obvious or a bit blurry when movie came out. Stream includes additional content after movie ends.

A horror film classic, Alien is not a run of the mill Sci fi flick. It has high quality production values with aesthetics, design concepts and themes that are influential and seminal, launching Ridley Scott in the map as a serious director after his (also incredible, yet relatively unkown) "The Duelists".

Acting is superb and top notch, and this version will let the actors shine even more (Veronica Cartwright should have been praised more in her role in my opinion) with dialogue including social tension and commentary.

It is a multifaceted movie that explores our primordial fears, including overt sexual imagery. The film creates a continous sense of claustrophobia, industrial stress and helplessness, with masterful photography and well placed shots as well as a superb soundscape and score.

This version also includes deleted scenes that have been subject of some discussion. This is a must watch for any movie aficionado and will be surely treasured for years to come.

I thought I bought the movie 'Aliens'
Verified purchase
I've heard about the Aliens series and how it been widely talked after the 80s. I thought that this movie was 'Aliens' and not the precursor to Aliens, so I ended up buying this accidentally and I'm thankful I thought it because it made more sense when I went to purchase the sequel to this movie or direct closely tied spin-off, Aliens, whatever anyone wants the follow up.

Movie wise, it is a good movie and the characters are well done. Good production and the story is told very very well. The movie is rather dated but it's nice to see how back towards the 1970s, how they've created and put together those science fiction movies together with the ideas present at the time. Another one of those movies.

This is one of my favorite horror movies ever
Verified purchase
This is one of my favorite horror movies ever. Even tho it took nearly a month for the movie to arrive, even tho it should have arrived sooner, I am happy to watch this movie on my PS3 system and from my TV. This is movie is a classic and it's awesome that the Blu-Ray version comes both with the Director's Cut and also the original versions of the movie. Ridley Scott back then knew how to give us a good scare and also to balance out the music with tense moments. :)
For any Sci-Fi or horror movie fan, this is a must buy. I also recommend getting the sequel Aliens as well. Even if that movie is more action focused, it still has it's awesome and memorable moments.

An iconic must watch film for Sci-Fi fans.

One of my favorite Ridley Scott directed films and a Sci-Fi Horror classic that really was ahead of its time. In this post 2000 remastered edition of the film it is as fresh and chilling as I'm sure it was in 1979 all be it a little retro adding to its appeal. You may need to ramp up the volume for full immersion as the soundtrack is a somewhat quiet but remains good quality so I can't knock it.
